The City will be apply for a Community Development Block Grant on behalf of Mountain Gateway Community College to help fund equipment for their new Wilson Workforce Center, currently under construction. There will be two public hearings, one this Thursday 5/30/2024 and one next week, 6/6/2024. See details below.

CDBG Community Improvement Grant Application – Community Economic Development – Public Hearing
The City of Buena Vista will hold a public hearing on Thursday, May 30th 2024 at 8:30 AM. The meeting will be held in person at City Hall, 2nd Floor, Community Development Office. The purpose of the hearing is to present information about Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funding equipment for the proposed Mountain Gateway Community College (MGCC) Wilson Workforce Center located at 2019 Forest Avenue.
Information on the amount of funding available, the requirements on benefit to low- and moderate-income persons, eligible activities, and plans to minimize displacement and provide displacement assistance as necessary will be available. At this time, it is not expected that program activities will displace any residents or businesses. Citizens will also be given the opportunity to comment on Buena Vista’s past use of CDBG funds. All interested citizens are urged to attend.
